Responding to Infant's Needs

This article about infant-led sleep is worth checking out.

  1. We firmly believe as a crux of our parenting that by meeting our children's needs during infancy that we will raise secure children and later adults.

We do this by feeding on demand and co-sleeping, lots of touch, lots of interaction. As we look back on our three post infant kids, they all settled in a natural routine. Even our littlest one at 3 m0nths, begins to set a natural routine for himself.

Of course some direction is needed simply because of logistics of being a member of a large family.

while I know your article was more on infant sleep, I have never understood scheduled feedings. I eat when I'm hungry, it is usually around the same time during the day but not exactly. I'm 33 years old and I don't follow a strict feeding scheduled and therefore could never implement it in small infant.

    Great article!
